Although the name suggests a more remote location, getting to Magnetic Island is easy. Starting your Island holiday adventure with the opportunity to spot dolphins, whales and other sea life brings added anticipation. The passenger ferry from Townsville, Queensland takes just 20 minutes and runs every day and into the night.
The Fantasea vehicle ferry takes a little longer. If you prefer to leave your car on the mainland there is a free parking facility at the Fantasea ferry terminal.
Although located separately, both ferry terminals are just a short taxi or free shuttle bus ride from Townsville’s Domestic Airport, to where you can connect daily from towns throughout Australia.
Coming by car? Townsville is an easy and beautiful 4-hour drive from Cairns.
